Dr. Tonia Cox
Dr. Tonia Cox grew up on a farm along Clear Creek in Morgan County, Tennessee, where she developed a love for the outdoors, science, and caring for others. She spent time in Germany in high school and college. She attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, for her undergraduate studies and earned her medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. She completed her pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia in 2004. She practiced briefly in Suffolk, VA before relocating to Chattanooga, her husband’s hometown.
Since 2009, Dr. Cox has been a dedicated pediatrician at Pediatric Diagnostic Associates, where she values long-term relationships with families and guiding children from infancy to young adulthood. She finds joy in educating patients and parents, easing ailments and minds, and making each step of a child’s growth meaningful. Dr. Cox has been married to her husband, Will, since 2001 They have two daughters, Emma and Isabelle; they are all UT Vols! As a family, they love outdoor adventures, music festivals and concerts, board games, and travel. She also enjoys reading, houseplants, and fitness. Dr. Cox has a passion for connecting with patients and families through collaboration and holistic medical care grounded in science.
