Dr. Richard Carroll

Dr. Richard Carroll was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He attended the University of Wisconsin, where he earned a degree in Business Administration before pursuing his medical degree at Northwestern University in Chicago. He then completed his pediatric residency at David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base in California.

Dr. Carroll served in the United States Air Force for seven years, concluding his service at Andrews Air Force Base. While he and his family initially planned to return to Chicago, an interview with Pediatric Diagnostic Associates changed everything. It quickly became clear that Chattanooga was not only an ideal place to raise a family but also home to a truly special pediatric practice. As he puts it, “Working at PDA is not just a job—it’s being part of a family. The relationships with colleagues and staff make this place exceptional.”

Dr. Carroll knew from an early age that he wanted to be a pediatrician. The opportunity to watch children grow, build lasting relationships with families, and make a positive impact on their lives is what drew him to the field. He especially enjoys the fun, lighthearted nature of pediatrics. “Kids say some of the most hysterical things—I laugh every day at work,” he shares.

In his free time, Dr. Carroll enjoys reading, exercising, and cheering on his favorite Chicago sports teams. He is married to Ann, his lifelong love, and together they have two children, Jake and Addi.
