Dr. R. Anthony Friddell
Managing Partner
R. Anthony ’Tony’ Friddell, MD, was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas. After graduating from Tascosa High School, he pursued his undergraduate studies at The University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry. Following his undergraduate education, he relocated to San Antonio to attend medical school at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. In 1993, he successfully completed his medical degree.
After completing his medical degree, Dr. Friddell embarked on a three-year internship and residency in General Pediatrics. During this period, he was fortunate enough to be offered an additional year as the Chief Resident of Pediatrics at Erlanger Medical Center. He completed his Chief Resident year in 1997 and joined PDA. Since then Dr. Friddell has helped in preserving and expanding the organization’s legacy. In 2020, he became the Managing Partner, succeeding Dr. Gary Meredith.
Outside of his professional duties, Dr. Friddell is happily married to Paise Friddell, and they have raised four children: a boy and three girls, all between the ages of 16 and 27. As a family, they cherish their time together, engaging in various activities like beach and mountain trips, and Disney visits. Dr. Friddell is also an avid golfer, playing golf as often as possible. He’s passionate about spending time outdoors and makes the most of his time in Chattanooga.

Dr. Friddell is the very best. He’s a complete expert. He has been my children’s doctor since they were babies, and at every phase he is knowledgeable, patient, a great listener and an outstanding doctor. He is always caring, never rushes us, and is always very thoughtful and thorough with appointments. We are so grateful to have him and this practice as our pediatrician!
We love PDA! We've been taking our 2 kids here since they were born. Dr. Friddell is our primary, but over the years we've seen all of the other doctors in the practice and received excellent care. We are always able to get same day sick visits. They also recently became an independent practice (no longer with CHI) and are back to accepting BCBS network S, which was a huge help for us. I highly recommend them!
My husband went to Pediatric Diagnostic Associates as a child and now we’ve used them for our 2 year old son since he was born. We love how intentional everyone is about caring for our little guy! They respond quickly to questions and concerns, and have hours that are more flexible for working parents or if you have an urgent need on a weekend! Their on call services have helped us several times especially in the early days of being new parents. We love everyone that we’ve seen there from front desk, to the nurses and doctors!
We love Pediatrician Diagnostics! Doctors are fabulous!
