Dr. Matthew Campbell

Dr. Matthew Campbell was born and raised in the small town of Trion, Georgia. He attended Shorter University in Rome, Georgia, before earning his medical degree and completing his residency at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. He began his career in Tullahoma, Tennessee, where he spent eight years practicing traditional pediatrics, including NICU, emergency care, and outpatient medicine.

Dr. Campbell believes in a collaborative approach to pediatric care, guided by his faith and the principle of treating others as he would want to be treated. As he describes it, “I strive to be a trusted advisor and friend to my patients and their parents. Encouragement and education are central to my communication style—along with a healthy dose of dad jokes and movie quotes.”

His passion for pediatrics was sparked when he shadowed a family practice in his hometown, where he fell in love with patient interactions. He sees his work as a calling, helping children and parents navigate not just their physical health, but also their emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. Some of his favorite moments in pediatrics are watching newborns grow into thriving young adults and even caring for the next generation of his former patients.

Beyond medicine, Dr. Campbell enjoys spending time with his wife, children, extended family, and church community. He loves hiking, rafting, coaching and playing basketball and baseball, and traveling. He also continues a special tradition—playing the kazoo for his patients, a habit inspired by a mentor who once used it to bring joy to a young girl battling cancer.
